Carbon Monoxide Detectors
Carbon monoxide is colorless, odorless, tasteless, and very toxic, it also moves freely in the air. CO detectors can measure the concentration and
sound a loud alarm before a potentially harmful level is reached. The human body is most vulnerable to the effects of CO gas during sleeping hours;
therefore, CO detectors should be located in or as near as possible to sleeping areas of the home. For maximum protection, a CO alarm should be
located outside primary sleeping areas or on each level of your home. Figure 5 indicates the suggested locations in the home.
Do NOT place the CO alarm in the following areas:
Where the temperature may drop below -10ºC or exceed 40ºC
l
Near paint thinner fumes
l
Within 5 feet (1.5m) of open flame appliances such as furnaces, stoves and fireplaces
l
In exhaust streams from gas engines, vents, flues or chimneys
l
In close proximity to an automobile exhaust pipe; this will damage the detector
l
PLEASE REFER TO THE CO DETECTOR INSTALLATION AND OPERATING INSTRUCTION SHEET FOR SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS AND
EMERGENCY INFORMATION.
Limited Warranty
DigitalSecurityControlswarrantsthe originalpurchaser that for a period of twelve monthsfrom the date of purchase, the product shallbe free of defectsin materialsand workmanship under normaluse. During the warrantyperiod,
DigitalSecurityControlsshall, at itsoption, repair or replace anydefective product upon return of the product to itsfactory, at no charge for labour and materials. Anyreplacement and/or repaired partsare warranted for the remainder
of the originalwarrantyor ninety(90) days, whichever islonger. The originalpurchaser must promptlynotifyDigitalSecurityControlsin writing that there isdefect in materialor workmanship, such written notice to be received in allevents
prior to expiration of the warrantyperiod. There isabsolutelyno warrantyon software and allsoftware productsare sold asa user license under the termsof the software license agreement included with the product. The Customer
assumesallresponsibilityfor the proper selection, installation, operation and maintenance of anyproductspurchased from DSC. Custom productsare onlywarranted to the extent that theydo not function upon delivery. In such
cases, DSC can replace or credit at itsoption.
International Warranty
The warrantyfor internationalcustomersisthe same asfor anycustomer within Canada and the United States, with the exception that DigitalSecurityControlsshallnot be responsible for anycustomsfees, taxes, or VAT that maybe
due.
Warranty Procedure
To obtain service under thiswarranty, please return the item(s) in question to the point of purchase. Allauthorized distributorsand dealershave a warrantyprogram. Anyone returning goodsto DigitalSecurityControlsmust first obtain
an authorization number. DigitalSecurityControlswillnot accept anyshipment whatsoever for which prior authorization hasnot been obtained.
Conditions to Void Warranty
Thiswarrantyappliesonlyto defectsin partsand workmanship relating to normaluse. It doesnot cover:
l l damage incurred in shipping or handling;
l damage caused bydisaster such asfire, flood, wind, earthquake or lightning;
l damage due to causesbeyond the controlof DigitalSecurityControlssuch asexcessive voltage, mechanicalshockor water damage;
l damage caused byunauthorized attachment, alterations, modificationsor foreign objects;
l damage caused byperipherals(unlesssuch peripheralswere supplied byDigitalSecurityControlsLtd.);
l defectscaused byfailure to provide a suitable installation environment for the products;
l damage caused byuse of the productsfor purposesother than those for which it wasdesigned;
l damage from improper maintenance;
damage arising out of anyother abuse, mishandling or improper application of the products.

Items Not Covered by Warranty
In addition to the itemswhich void the Warranty, the following itemsshallnot be covered byWarranty: (i) freight cost to the repair centre; (ii) productswhich are not identified with DSC'sproduct labeland lot number or serialnumber; (iii)
productsdisassembled or repaired in such a manner asto adverselyaffect performance or prevent adequate inspection or testing to verifyanywarrantyclaim. Accesscardsor tagsreturned for replacement under warrantywillbe cred-
ited or replaced at DSC'soption. Productsnot covered bythiswarranty, or otherwise out of warrantydue to age, misuse, or damage shallbe evaluated, and a repair estimate shallbe provided. No repair workwillbe performed untila
valid purchase order isreceived from the Customer and a Return Merchandise Authorization number (RMA) isissued byDSC'sCustomer Service.
DigitalSecurityControlsLtd.'sliabilityfor failure to repair the product under thiswarrantyafter a reasonable number of attemptswillbe limited to a replacement of the product, asthe exclusive remedyfor breach of warranty. Under no cir-
cumstancesshallDigitalSecurityControlsbe liable for anyspecial, incidental, or consequentialdamagesbased upon breach of warranty, breach of contract, negligence, strict liability, or anyother legaltheory. Such damagesinclude,
but are not limited to, lossof profits, lossof the product or anyassociated equipment, cost of capital, cost of substitute or replacement equipment, facilitiesor services, down time, purchaser'stime, the claimsof third parties, including cus-
tomers, and injuryto property. The lawsof some jurisdictionslimit or do not allow the disclaimer of consequentialdamages. If the lawsof such a jurisdiction applyto anyclaim byor against DSC, the limitationsand disclaimerscontained
here shallbe to the greatest extent permitted bylaw. Some statesdo not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidentalor consequentialdamages, so that the above maynot applyto you.
