DVB-T2 Measurement

The DVB-T2 (standard EN 302755) measurement's version history includes v1.1.1, v1.2.1, and v1.3.1. v1.3.1
added a "T2-Lite" profile, intended for simpler receiver implementations and very low capacity applications
such as mobile broadcasting; although it may also be used with conventional stationary receivers. T2-Lite is
a "light" version of DVB-T2 standard (T2-Base) with some complex components removed, allowing for
implementation of mobile devices with low complexity and power consumption. T2-Lite is specified in an
updated version of the DVB-T2 standard (published by ETSI in 2012 [EN 302 755 v.1.3]).
The S7200 supports the DVB-T2 signal test in EN 302 755 v1.1.1, v1.2.1 and v1.3.1. A variety of measurement
functions are available: average power, MER, CBER, VBER, constellation test, echo pattern, and L1 and PLP
information.

Measurement Settings
In order to demodulate 8VSB signals, the user must first set up the following parameters:
Channel type: the first step is to set the channel type to DVB-T/H in the channel plan editor (see Chapter 3
for details).
Center Frequency: the carrier center frequency
Other DVB-T2 parameters will be auto-set according to the pilot, P1 symbol, and L1 pre-signaling and post-
signaling. If the above settings are in place and a clear signal is received, the S7200 can correctly
demodulate 8VSB. Tap T2 Info to view P1 symbol and L1 pre/post-signaling info.
6-8.2
CBER and VBER
See subsection 6-7.2 above.
6-8.3
Average Power
In the Average Power interface, DVB-T2 signal power is displayed as a histogram. MER, CBER, and VBER
readings are listed in the lower-left.
