Getting Started
Connecting to Y our PC
You may con nect the digitizer to your PC usin g a local ar ea networ k
(LAN) or USB inter face. Complete con nectivity details for Agilen t
in str uments can be foun d in the Agilen t GPIB/USB/LAN Con n ectivity
Gu ide.
The L4532A/ 34A has a built- in web server. The LAN conn ection between
the PC and the digitizer provides access to the digitizer through the
digitizer 's Web In ter face. This is the easiest way to access the
L4532A/ 34A as it r equir es n o additional I/ O dr iver s.

Complete instructions for PC connection, configuration and communication are provided in
the Agilent L4532A/ 34A User's Guide. Refer to that section to make and configure your
desired connection.
In st all the Agilen t IO Librar ies Suite from the Automation- Ready
CD- ROM that is shipped with your instr ument.
Conn ect and con figur e a LAN or USB con nection .
For LAN con nection, use a standard Categpr y 5 LAN cable.
For USB conn ection, use a USB A- Plug to B- Plug cable.
Run the Con nection Exper t utility of the Agilent IO Librar ies Suite to
ver ify that the computer automatically r ecognizes the digitizer. This
may take sever al seconds. If the in str ument cann ot be foun d, you can
add the in str ument using the IP addr ess displayed on the front panel.
You can now use In ter active IO within the Conn ection Exper t to
commun icate with your digitizer, you can progr am it using var ious
programmin g environmen ts, or you can use the Web In ter face (next
section).
