Self T est Procedures

Power On Self T est

Each time the digitizer is powered on , a subset of self tests ar e
per for med. These tests check that the minimum set of logic and output
hardwar e ar e fun ction ing properly.

Full Self T est

The successful execution of the self test procedure provides a high degr ee
of con fidence that the digitizer is operating n or mally. The self test
procedur e is an automated procedur e that systematically exercises the
processor, digital in fr astr uctur e, memor y, and analog front end
subsystems. The test procedure attempts to isolate any failing con dition s
found to a par ticular assembly to facilitate troubleshootin g an d r epair.
The test typically takes approximately 60 secon ds to complete.
Dur ing the test the digitizer analog inputs are disconnected in ter n ally
from the r ear panel BNC conn ectors an d ar e conn ected to the in ter n al
calibr ation source. This source is then used to stimulate the analog input
chann els with test signals. All of the inter n al signal paths are tested for
proper oper ation . As the differ ent sign al paths ar e con figur ed for
testing, the activation of the relays used to switch the signal paths is
au dible. After the test procedur e completes, the an alog inputs are
r e- connected to the rear pan el BNC con nector s.
Self- test er ror s are r epor ted in the followin g for mat:
-330,"Self-test failed; 631: Channel gain test failed"
You should r un a full self test befor e beginning any of the verification or
adjustment procedures given in Chapter 4, Calibr ation and Adjustment
