Powering Up

Connecting the Line Cord

Con nect the power cord to the power r eceptacle on the r ear of the un it.
If the wrong power cor d was ship ped with your un it, con tact your
n ear est Agilen t Sales Office.
The AC input on the back of the digitizer is a un iver sal AC input that
accepts nominal line voltages in the r ange of 100 VAC to 240 VAC at 240
volt amper es. The line fr equency may be either 50 Hz or 60 Hz.

Applying Power

With power conn ected, the un it is in st an d- by mode. In stand- by mode,
line power con tin ues to dr ive the digitizer 's in ter n al power supply;
however, n o power is provided to its measuremen t circuitr y.
You may already have conn ected your LAN or USB inter face cable; if n ot,
you may do so at this time.
Pr ess the on/ stand- by button ( ) on the fron t pan el. The power on
sequen ce is described an d illustr ated below.

FIRE HAZARD Use only the power cord that was supplied with your
instrument. Using other types of power cords may cause overheating of
the power cord, resulting in fire.
SHOCK HAZARD The power cord provides a chassis ground through a
third conductor. Be certain that your power outlet is of the
three-conductor type with the correct pin connected to earth ground.
The detachable power cord may be used as an emergency disconnect
device. In rack installations or other installations with a master power
switch for the rack or bench, the master switch may be used as an
emergency disconnect device. Do not position the digitizer so that the
power cord, master switch or other emergency disconnect device is
inaccessible.
If the L4532A/ 34A does n ot tur n on when
power is available to the instr umen t an d that the power cord is
secur ely con nected. If the in str ument still does not tur n on, the
cooling fan is not audible, or the fron t pan el display is off when power
is applied, r etur n the unit to Agilen t for repair.
The L4532A/ 34A r emembers its power st ate (e.g. on or st andby )
when unplugged; it will r etur n to that state when plugged in again.
