In 16-bit mode
Figure 7.7-2 illustrates the settings required to use the counter function in 16-bit mode.
The operations of the counter function in 16-bit mode are the same as those of the interval timer
function (in 16-bit mode), except that the counter uses an external clock instead of an internal
clock.
