Figure C-18:
C.6.5 Removing the Towfish Electronics
To remove the towfish electronics:
1. Remove the towfish nose cone by unscrewing the socket head cap screw in the
center with a 8-mm hex key or driver. Once you have the nose cone off you will
find the electronics extraction handle as shown in Figure C-19.
2. Unplug all the cables at the feed-thrus, which are shown in Figure C-19, and
inspect this area for dirt and debris and flush clean.
3. On the top and bottom of the extraction handle is a 6-mm hex set screw. One of
these screws is shown in Figure C-20. Screw them into the handle to release the
feed-thru.
4. Pull firmly on the extraction handle to extract the electronics assembly which
may pop out quickly. Avoid over stressing the transducer leads.
5. Carefully slide the electronics assembly out of the housing while keeping the
electronics assembly level.
To reassemble the electronics into the pressure housing:
1. Inspect and clean the O-ring and the O-ring surface in the pressure housing.
Apply a light coat of silicone grease to both the O-ring and the O-ring surface.
