For combined side scan sonar and chirp sub bottom profiling, the S3000SPB Chirp
Sub Bottom Profiler is available as an upgrade to the Series 3000 Towfish. The sub
bottom profiler mounts directly to the towfish and connects to the towfish with
supplied jumper cables. Power is provided from the towfish and setup and
operation is performed using SonarPro. For instructions on how to set up and
operate the sub bottom profiler using SonarPro, refer to the current revision of the
"SonarPro User Manual" (P/N 11210079). This chapter provides a general
description and specifications for the S3000SBP Chirp Sub Bottom Profiler along
with an illustrated procedure on how to install it onto the towfish.
7.1 General Description
The S3000DBP Chirp Sub Bottom Profiler is shown mounted to the towfish in
Figure 7-1. The sub bottom profiler includes two low frequency transducers and a
pressure housing containing the sub bottom profiler electronics within a two-piece
