5.3 Adapting a project (Upgrading the project / Replacing the SIMOTION controller)
Preparation
Before the device replacement can be performed, it is recommended that preparatory work
is performed in the existing project. The existing project must be adapted so that it can be
mapped to the new device during the device replacement.
This currently affects only the booksize devices SIMOTION D4x5/D4x5-2 (for details refer to
the
No preparatory measures are necessary or feasible for the D410.
A device replacement "D410 DP ⇔ D410 PN" changes only the bus interface. After the
device replacement these must always be reconfigured. If necessary the existing PROFIBUS
field devices should be replaced with PROFINET field devices (or vice versa).

Replacing a device in HW Config

Procedure
1. Double-click the SIMOTION device to be replaced in the project navigator in

SIMOTION D is modeled as a compact device in HW Config. Replacing a module
requires the new module to be moved to the header of the module rack shown and not to
slot 2. Please note that you must not delete the D410 rack.
When you move the new module to the rack header using drag-and-drop, the old module
will be replaced. Alternatively, you can:
