NON-SIDE OPENING ELEMENTS
The two possible removal - refitting methods are des-
cribed below:
- Removal - refitting without the hinges: this method is
mainly used if the opening element is being replaced.
- Removal with the hinges: this method is mainly used
when replacing the body and recovering the opening
element.
I - REMOVAL - REFITTING WITHOUT THE HINGES
1 - PREPARATION FOR REMOVAL
a Remove the tailgate trim (see Tailgate trim: Re-
moval - Refitting) (73A, Non-side opening ele-
ments trim).
a Disconnect the electrical connectors to:
- the rear screen wiper motor,
- the tailgate lock,
- for the boot lid opening control,
- the heated rear screen,
- the high level brake light.
B91
a Disconnect:
- the earths,
- the aerial connectors,
- the tailgate lights.
K91
a Disconnect the number plate light connectors.
a Remove:
- the tailgate wiring,
- the tailgate washer jet tube,
- the tailgate gas struts (see Tailgate strut: Remov-
al - Refitting) (52A, Non-side opening element
mechanisms).
Tailgate: Removal - Refitting
2 - REMOVAL
a Remove:
- the tailgate bolts (1) ,
- the tailgate.
3 - REFITTING
a Refit:
- the tailgate,
- the tailgate bolts (1) .
4 - FINAL OPERATION
a Refit:
- the tailgate gas struts (see Tailgate strut: Remov-
al - Refitting) (52A, Non-side opening element
mechanisms),
- the tailgate washer jet tube,
- the tailgate wiring.
