5. With a rubber mallet, tap the short shaft out of the gear case.
6. Pull the short shaft out of the gear case.

Shaft disassembly

1. Before pressing, remove the outer race of the needle roller
bearing.
2. Use a hydraulic press and V-blocks Figure 138, item A) to
remove the bearings (items 1 and 2) and gear spacer (on
drive shaft only, not shown).
NOTE: Make sure both ends of the shaft are protected when
A removing the shaft.
