The piston skirt has a layer of molybdenum
disulfide , which decreases the piston slap noise and
thus the all the engine noise.

The molybdenum disulfide (1) is a solid lubricant, like
Graphite or Teflon. This material helps not to wear the
metal even with little lube oil.
(1) Molybdenum Disulfide
The rubber packing is attached to keep the cylinder
head cover approximately 0.5 mm (0.02 in.) off the
cylinder head. This decreases the noise from the
cylinder head.
