2.6.4 APSCDFLTK

The APS Default K Byte Received alarm occurs when a bidirectional line switched ring (MS-SPRing)
is not properly configured—for example, when a four-node MS-SPRing has one node configured as a
unidirectional path switched ring (SNCP). When this misconfiguration occurs, a node in an SNCP or 1+1
configuration does not send the two valid K1/K2 APS bytes anticipated by a system configured for
MS-SPRing. One of the bytes sent is considered invalid by the MS-SPRing configuration. The K1/K2
byte is monitored by receiving equipment for link-recovery information.
