5.2 BOARDS

The FCU (Facsimile Control Unit) controls fax communications, the video interface

to the base copier's engine, and all the fax options.

• Data compression and reconstruction (DCR)

• DMA control

• Clock generation

• DRAM backup control

• V.34, V33, V17, V.29, V.27ter, V.21, and V.8

• The 16 MB of DRAM is shared as follows.

Working memory : 4MB

• The SAF memory is backed up by a rechargeable battery.

Memory Back-up

• A Rechargeable battery backs up the SAF memory (DRAM) for 1 hour.
