Configuring the Windowing Environment
After you have set the monitor mode, you can configure
your system to run either the OpenWindows or CDE
windowing environment.
To support color with the Md4/PCI board, you must use
only one head per board. If you are using two heads per
board, both heads must be grayscale, and both must have
the same resolution.

To run OpenWindows

Launch the OpenWindows server as follows:
For a one-headed system, type:
openwin -dev /dev/md4pci0.0
For a two-headed system, type:
openwin -dev /dev/md4pci0.0 -dev \
Each screen has a name of the form:
/dev/md4pciy.z
where:
= board instance
y
z= head number (0 for first head, 1 for second head)
Board instances are assigned by the system.
