When the dead time is set to 0, and there are two or more RADIUS servers in a RADIUS server
group, authentication starts with the first server in the group, unless there are two or more
RADIUS servers and load sharing is configured, in which case authentication starts by trying a
server in round-robin style.
5
In the Key box, type the password (also known as a shared secret key) used to authenticate to
the RADIUS server.
You must provide the same password that is defined on the RADIUS server. The password can
be 1 to 64 characters long, with no spaces or tabs.
6
In the Authorization Password box, type the password used for outbound authentication and
authorization to a RADIUS server. The authorization password can be 1 to 32 alphanumeric
characters long, with no spaces or tabs.
Providing an authorization password is required only for users whose devices are authenticated
by their MAC addresses or for non-802.1X users of third-party APs. Neither of these user types
has a regular username or password. The default authorization password is nortel.
Changing the password applies both to MAC users and to last-resort users.
Note. All MAC address-authenticated users or last-resort users must share the
same authorization password on the RADIUS server.
7
Click Save.
8
To make RADIUS packets from the WSS use the system IP address as the source IP address,
select Use System IP Address in the content panel.

Configuring RADIUS System Accounting

You can configure RADIUS system accounting in WLAN Management Software. When system accounting is
enabled, an Accounting-On message (Acct-Status-Type = 7) is sent to the specified RADIUS server group
when the WSS starts, and an Accounting-Off message (Acct-Status-Type = 8) to the RADIUS server when the
WSS is administratively shut down.
Note that Accounting-Off messages are sent only when the WSS is administratively shut down, not when a
critical failure causes the WSS to reset. The WSS does not wait for a RADIUS server to acknowledge the
Accounting-Off message; the switch makes one attempt to send the Accounting-Off message, then shuts
down.
To configure RADIUS system accounting
1
Access the RADIUS accounting properties:
a
Select the Configuration tool bar option.
b
