Ensure that you have the following parts and tools available to remove and replace the power supplies in
the switch chassis:
ESD grounding strap (not provided)
Two antistatic bags or mats (not provided)
Power supply cover panel to cover the empty power supply slot, if you do not plan to install a replacement
power supply immediately (provided)
To replace both power supplies in an EX4500 switch while the switch is operational, remove and replace
the power supply in the top slot first, and then repeat the procedure for the power supply in the bottom
slot.
NOTE:
Each power supply must be connected to a dedicated AC power source outlet.

Replacing the Power Supply in the Top Slot

To replace the power supply in the top slot of the switch:
1. Ensure that the EX4500 switch you are working on is operating normally, with both power supplies
turned on, by verifying that the LED on each power supply is lit steadily green. See
Figure 53: Verify Green Power Supply LEDs for Normal Operation

2. Attach the ESD grounding strap to your bare wrist, and connect the strap to the ESD point on the lower
right front of the chassis—or touch the exposed, bare metal of the switch to ground yourself before
handling a component.
