3C1-8 AIR BAG STEERING WHEEL AND COLUMN
1. Trim cover (pad surface)
2. Inflator case
3. Wire harness
1. Air bag (inflator) module wire
2. Horn wire
1. Horn connectors
2. Projection of cap
Check air bag (inflator) module visually and if any of the following
is found, replace it with a new one.
D Air bag being deployed
D Trim cover (pad surface) being cracked
D Wire harness or connector being damaged
D Air bag (inflator) module being damaged or having been ex-
posed to strong impact (dropped)
INSTALLATION
1) Making sure that wire harness at the back of air bag (inflator)
module is arranged as shown in figure.
2) Making sure that contact coil lead wires and horn wire is ar-
ranged as shown in figure.
3) Install air bag (inflator) module to steering wheel, taking care so
that no part of wire harness is caught between them.
4) Make sure that clearance between module and steering wheel
is uniform all the way.
5) Tighten air bag (inflator) module left side bolt first and then its
right side bolt to specified torque.
Special Tool
(A): 09944-18230
Tightening Torque
(a): 23 N·m (2.3 kg-m, 17.0 lb-ft)
6) Connect horn connectors securely, fit connector onto projection
of steering wheel right side cap and then install right side cap
on steering wheel lower cover.
7) Connect negative battery cable.
8) Enable air bag system. Refer to "Enabling Air Bag System" un-
der "Service Precautions" earlier in this section.
