REMOVAL (1.3 L and 1.6 L engine models)
NOTE:
Be sure to clean each joint of suction and discharge sides
thoroughly before removal.
1) Remove engine under cover of right side, loosen belt tension
pulley and remove P/S V-ribbed belt.
2) Disconnect high pressure hose and suction hose from pump.
As fluid flows out of disconnected joints, put a container under
joints or a plug to hose.
CAUTION:
When disconnecting, take care not to cause damage to
A/C condenser, if equipped.
3) Disconnect pressure switch lead harness.
4) Remove A/C compressor from bracket with A/C hose still at-
tached (if equipped).
NOTE:
Hang removal A/C compressor with a wire hook or the like
so as to prevent A/C hose from bending and twisting exces-
sively or being pulled.
5) Remove oil pump together with its bracket, then remove oil
pump from bracket.
NOTE:
Plug each port of removed pump to prevent dust or any oth-
er foreign matter from entering.
REMOVAL (1.8 L engine model)
NOTE:
Be sure to clean each joint of suction and discharge sides thor-
oughly before removal.
1) Remove engine under cover (right side only) and loosen generator
belt tensioner pulley then remove generator belt. Refer to Section
6B for details of its removal.
2) Remove air cleaner outlet hose.
NOTE:
Do not forget to remove the coupler from air cleaner outlet
hose.
3) Empty power steering fluid reservoir with syringe or such.
