Scan Log Dump Progress Codes

A scan dump is the collection of chip data that the service processor gathers after a system malfunction,
such as a checkstop or hang. The scan dump data may contain chip scan rings, chip trace arrays, and
SCOM contents. For more information on scan dumps, refer to "Scan Log Dump Policy" on page 370.
The following table shows the error code produced by a scan dump.

Action/
Possible Failing FRU
1. If short hostnames are being used for the
HMC and the partitions, insure that the short
hostnames are set up correctly according to
the instructions in "Using Network Adapters
to Communicate With Partitions" in the IBM
Hardware Management Console for pSeries
Installation and Operations Guide, order
number SA38-0590. Correct any problems
that are found (if any), then verify that you
can ping in both directions between the HMC
and partitions.

If short hostnames are not being used, or
the procedure above does not correct the
problem, contact your service rep.
Action/Possible Failing FRU
This is an informational message. The service processor
firmware was not able to perform a scan log dump even
though one was requested.
Informational message only. As the dump progresses,
the xxx characters in the display changes. When
completed, the system may reboot, depending on the
reboot policy settings.
