Before doing a step that contains a caution icon, read and understand the caution statement that accompanies it. - Page 4 Use the rack mount template Know the following about the EIA units located on the front and rear of your rack: Each EIA unit consists of three holes. The holes along the rail within each EIA unit are not evenly spaced. Each EIA unit begins at the point where the hole spacing is closest together.

Never work from the top down. 3) If you are installing a Model 6C4 into a non-IBM rack, check the alignment pins located on the front and rear of your rails. If they are not the correct diameter, locate the alignment-pin bracket kit, and install the correct alignment pins and pin brackets. - Page 6 Install the rails (continued) Go to the rear of the rack. Attach two 7 mm screws to the left rail. Use this size 7 mm screw to complete this step. Attach a 7 mm screw through alignment the bottom-right-rail screw hole. (As viewed from the back of the rack.) Locate the cable-management arm bracket.
- Page 7 Attach the cable-carrier support bracket Locate the cable-carrier support bracket, and position it on the rear of the system Use this size 5 mm screw as shown. to complete this step. Secure the cable-carrier support bracket with two 5 mm slotted hex head screws.
- Page 8 Tighten the rail retaining screws 10.1 Take along your screwdriver or nut driver to the rear of the rack. 10.2 Use your screwdriver or nut driver to tighten the four rear rail retaining screws. 10.3 With your screwdriver or nut driver, return to the front of the rack.
