Print Cartridge
The print cartridge is a customer-replaceable item that consists of the
following components:
Drum
The drum is an aluminum cylinder coated with a layer of
photoconductive material that retains electrical charges on its surface until
exposed to light, when electrical conduction occurs.
Bias charge roller (BCR)
the drum surface, and erases a charge pattern remaining from the previous
cycle.
Magnet roller
compartment, adheres to the surface of this roller, which transports the toner
into the gap between the drum and magnet roller.
Charging and metering (CM) blade
over the magnet roller, and applies negative charges to the toner
triboelectrically.
Cleaning blade
surface after the transfer step.

The BCR uniformly distributes electrical charges over
A thin layer of toner, supplied by the agitator in the toner
The CM blade spreads toner into a thin layer
The cleaning blade scrapes off toner remaining on the drum
