Front wheel- removing and installing
Remove retaining screws for brake caliper on sliding
tubes on both sides; pull
brake
calipers off brake discs
and allowto hang freely.
Slacken offthe quick-release
axle
clamping screws
(arrows) on
leftand
right.
Remove retaining screw (1) for
quick-release
axle.
Raisethe motorcycle with hoist BMW 00 1 510 until the
lront wheel is free to turn.
Pull outthe quick-release axle, noting spacer (2). Pull out
front wheel to the front.
Assemble following the same procedure but in the
reverse
order.
When installing:
Insert spacer
bus~ings
(5) and (6) in the
appropriate
place.
5 right-hand bushing (narrow)
6left-hand bushing (wide)
Warning
:
Ensure that
the
dust cap is firm/y on the
va
/ve.
Tightening torque:
Brake caliperto sliding tube
Retaining screw for
quick-release
axle
Clamping screw for quick-release axle
32±2Nm
33
±4Nm
14±2Nm
Front
wheel bearings
-
removing
and
installing
Pull out the deep-groove ball bearing with bearing puller
BMW 00 8 570
and
insert 21
/4,
BMW 00 8 573.
When
installing:
Remove
brake
dises.
Heat up hub to
app.
100°C and press
in
new bearing.
Secure brake dises.
Tightening torque:
Brake disc to front wheel
29 Nm
