Gearbox - stripping down
Place the gearbox on BMW assembly device 23 1 600
and secure it.
Drain off oil.
Gearbox cover - removing
Select neutral.
Slacken off the neutral stop spring bearing (1) and the
gearbox cover retaining screws.
Heatthe gearbox coverto app. 100

(check with a
thermochrome pin) and push it off with a screwdriver at
the three points indicated.
Note:
Note the
spring and ball tor the
neutral stop.
