Some fields in a RIP-1 packet must be 0, and they are known as must be zero field. For RIP-1, the
must be zero field is checked for incoming packets, and those RIP-1 packets with this field being
nonzero will not be processed.
Setting RIP-2 packet authentication mode
RIP-2 supports two authentication modes: simple authentication and message digest 5 (MD5)
authentication.
Simple authentication cannot provide complete security, because the authentication keys sent along
with packets that are not encrypted. Therefore, simple authentication cannot be applied where high
security is required.
