To remove air conditioner

11.1 - Removing and installing air conditioner (complete)
Note:
As of June 1997, AC version "1" has been gradually phased out of production and AC version "2" gradually
phased in.
- Dismantle and assemble design "1" =>Page
- Dismantle and assemble design "2" =>Page
Drain the refrigerant circuit.
=> Air conditioner with refrigerant R134a
- Removing dust and pollen filter =>Page
- Switch ignition on.
- Press recirculated-air button on the operating and display unit.
- -> Wait until air flow flap -A- is closed (the fresh/recirculated air flap is set to "air recirculation mode").
- Switch off ignition with air flow flap closed.
- Disconnect battery.
Notes:
◆ If necessary, obtain radio code before disconnecting battery.
◆ In vehicles with electrically adjustable seats, move the seats back as far as possible before disconnecting
the battery.
◆ The heat exchanger has been installed in vehicles with map-controlled cooling (to be introduced gradually
as of model year 1999 vehicles with 1.6 l engine) which has been adapted to the different usage conditions.
