Display zone
Compressor switched off (in vehicles with high-pressure sensor -G65):
▪ No positive signal from radiator fan control unit -J293 (refrigerant circuit pressure NOK
or fault in wiring, in -J293 or in -G65).

5 Compressor switched off:
▪ Engine speed less than 300 rpm
▪ No engine speed signal detected.
Open circuit in wiring between dash panel insert, engine control unit and -E87
- connector C, contact 6 (with one -E87 with two displays)
- connector C, contact 9 (with one -E87 with one display)
Engine control unit or dash panel insert supplies an unusable engine speed signal (check
engine speed signal).

1 Code Compressor shutoff criteria:
6 Compressor switched off:
▪ Compressor switched off via the -E87 "ECON" key (key with frost symbol).
Switch on compressor (press "Auto" button).
7 Compressor switched off:
▪ Air conditioner switched off via the -E87 "minus key" (for fresh-air blower speed) or
"OFF" key.
Switch on compressor (actuate "auto key").
8 Compressor switched off:
▪ Measured ambient temperature less than 2 °C (Celsius).
Ambient temperature less than 2 °C (place vehicle in heated area for test)
Temperature sensor (-G17 or -G89) issues incorrect values (check => Page
9 Vacant
10 Compressor switched off:
▪ Supply voltage for operating and display unit -E87 lower than 9.5V (=> display zone 2
or 3 and Fault table, Page

1 Code Compressor shutoff criteria:
11 Compressor switched off:
▪ Engine temperature too high
Dash panel insert has detected an excessive engine temperature and switched input to
earth - check.
Short to earth in wiring between dash panel insert and
-E87 (check =>electrical test, Page
=> Electrical System; Repair group 90
12 Compressor switched off:
▪ AC compressor cut-in.
The engine control unit has switched off the compressor (check => display group 10, Page

1 Code Compressor shutoff criteria:
13 Compressor switched off:
▪ Compressor cut-in delay (approx. 10 secs.) at engine speeds above 6000 rpm.
