3.6.13. Hybrid Ranging Standard

3.6.13.1.General

Available under licence.
The hybrid ranging is available only if a SQPN TCU is available and a TC link is established with the satellite that
responds with ranging tones that modulates the carrier in PM.
Minor tones are transmitted along with major tones. Minor tones are transmitted alternatively with regards to a
certain predefined order (imposed by the satellite). This configuration can be set in the Cortex CRT accordingly.
The satellite synchronises with the Q code of the SQPN signal and generates ranging tones synchronously, the
ranging tones frequencies (major and minor) being exact integer multiples of the Epoch rate. Each minor tone
and the major tone starts with zero and positive phase each Epoch.
The duration of each minor tone is in integer multiples of the Epoch period.
The Cortex CRT RAU generates the replica of the sequence of tones that the satellite sends coherently with the
spread spectrum so that classical tone ranging techniques are used for phase measurement and finally range
measurements.
Then ambiguity solving is processed as in ESA tone standard upon phase measurements on minor tones.
NB: The ambiguity covered by the hybrid ranging is Min(Epoch period, ambiguity(minor tones)), See § 3.6.13.3
page 258.

3.6.13.2.Tone Frequencies

Tone frequencies are an exact integer multiple of the epoch rate. They are defined as ratio as follows:
These ratios are programmed as the P factors of the Ranging Unit Table 0x1034.
With the following restriction (else, the configuration command is rejected):
