Then...
1. Verify that power is being applied to the library.
2. Gather failure information by logging in to the Web User
Interface and selecting Service Library → View Library
Logs.
3. Cycle library power.
4. Verify that you are running the latest levels of library and
drive firmware, then upgrade if necessary. See "Methods of
Updating Firmware" on page 7-20.
5. If the Operator Panel display is still failing, see "Replacing
the LCD Display Card" on page 9-16.
1. Try unloading the drive using the Operator Panel
(Commands → Move Cartridge).
2. Power cycle the library, allowing time to complete
initialization.
3. If the cartridge does not eject from the drive, see "Removing
a Cartridge from a Drive Manually" on page 9-45.
1. Instruct the customer to replace the tape cartridge.
2. Ensure that the latest available drive code is installed. See
"Methods of Updating Firmware" on page 7-20.
3. If the problem persists, see the tape handling procedures in
"Removing a Cartridge from a Drive Manually" on
page 9-45.
1. Instruct the customer to replace the cleaning cartridges.
2. Clean the tape drive with a known good cleaning cartridge.
3. If the problem persists, run Library Verify and Drive
diagnostic tests. See "Running Library Verify Diagnostics" on
page 7-5 and "Running Drive Diagnostics" on page 7-6.
4. If an error is detected, replace the drive. See "Replacing a
Tape Drive Canister or FC 1663 Tape Drive Removal" on
page 9-11
1. Confirm that the bar code label is not damaged or missing.
2. If necessary, attach an IBM bar code label to the cartridge.
Verify that you are running the latest levels of library and drive
firmware (Operator Panel: Revision), then upgrade if necessary.
See "Methods of Updating Firmware" on page 7-20.
Failure of the login screen to appear on the Operator Panel in 15
minutes indicates that the boot-up process is not completing.
1. Power OFF the library and wait at least one minute before
powering ON to recover the problem.
2. If a library firmware update was just performed, try to repeat
the update procedure.
Additional time is required by the library before the login screen
appears.
Update all components to the latest level of firmware. See
"Methods of Updating Firmware" on page 7-20.

"Library Logs" on page 7-13 and "Downloading Drive Logs" on
page 7-16.
