Cleaning and testing the reagent
cartridge
If the reagent cartridge is to be reused, it must be cleaned
directly after use. It is recommended that the reagent
cartridge is used a maximum of 20 times.
WARNING
Sharp needles
Do not touch the sharp needles at the bottom of the
reagent cartridge. Handle the needles with care. Small
particles and fibers may obstruct the needles.
Note: Be sure to observe all federal, state, and local
environmental regulations for the disposal of laboratory
waste.
The following items are required:
There are two possible cleaning procedures: A standard
cleaning procedure (Section 7.6.1) and a cleaning procedure
for clogged cartridges (Section 7.6.2). Ensure that a cleaned
cartridge is usable by performing a cartridge function check
(Section 7.6.3).
7.6.1

Standard cleaning procedure

Procedure:
1. Discard any remaining solutions.
2. Rinse the cartridge four times with high-purity water.
3. Spray the outside of the needles with high-purity water.
4. Fill the compartments to the top with high-purity water.
5. If a needle is blocked, wet the needle tip with a drop of

Powder-free gloves
High-purity water (Milli-Q 18.2 MΩ x cm or equivalent)
Clean, lint-free cloths
Hold the cartridge over a sink or beaker while pressing
firmly on top of each compartment with a finger (wear
powder-free gloves). A jet of water should come straight
out of the tip of the needle.
