Flywheel components check
- Check that the magnets are in good conditions.
- Check that the magnet support cage is not deformed or broken.
Checking the starter clutch
Remove the free wheel from its housing and check the rollers for signs of wear.
Check if the outer spring is sufficiently preloaded to hold the rollers in place.
Check for wear on the sliding surface of the free wheel inside its housing.
IT IS NECESSARY TO REPLACE THE HOUSING OF THE FREE WHEEL IF DEFORMATIONS OR
DEEP GROOVES ARE PRESENT ON THE SLIDING SURFACE.
Installing the flywheel
Before installing the magneto flywheel, cover the
apertures of the crankcase with a cloth to prevent
the retainer key from dropping into the interior of
the engine.
Fit the retainer key on the crankshaft
and fit the magneto flywheel, aligning
the slot with the key.
Block flywheel rotation using the spe-
cific tool.
THE SPECIFIC TOOL MUST BE MODIFIED FOR
USE ON THIS ENGINE, WIDENING THE CEN-
TRE HOLE BY THE AMOUNT NECESSARY TO
ALLOW THE TOOL TO FIT COMPLETELY ON-
TO THE FLYWHEEL.
FASTEN USING THE THREE SCREWS INDICA-
TED.
Fit the fastener screw and the respec-
tive washer and tighten to the specified
torque.
