Measurement Filter

The following three digital filters are available for reducing noise and performing
precision measurement.
Keysight B2980B User's Guide, Edition 1
Repeating average filter
This filter calculates a sum of samples in the certain range (number of
samples), then divides it by the number of samples.
Assuming that the number of samples is N, the first result is an average of
samples from 1st to N-th, and the second result is an average of samples from
(N1)-th to 2N-th.
This is always an effective filter.
The number of samples is automatically decided depending on the aperture
time.
Median filter
The median filter is available only for the current measurement.
This filter is used to determine the middle-most sample from a group of
samples that are arranged according to size. The group is shifted by discarding
the oldest sample and adding the latest sample to calculate the middle-most
sample in the new group.
Assuming that the number of samples is N, the first result is a middle-most
value in the samples from 1st to N-th, and the second result is a middle-most
value in the samples from 2nd to (N1)-th.
For example, if samples 1, 2, 100, 5, 6, ... is filtered with the range of three
samples, the middle-most results are as follow:
1, 2, 100  1, 2, 100  2
2, 100, 5  2, 5, 100  5
100, 5, 6  5, 6, 100  6
The latest N samples are used for the calculation.
To enable this filter, open the Measure Filter dialog box by System Menu >
Config > Measure > Filter operations, and set the Median Filter (Current) field
to ON.
