ENGINE
CRANKSHAFT DAMPER (Continued)
INSTALLATION
NOTE: Lubricate the threads of Special Tool 9055
using Mopar Nickel Anti-seize Compound or equiv-
alent, before beginning crankshaft damper installa-
tion.
(1) Install crankshaft damper using Special Tool
9055 (Fig. 107).
(2) Install and tighten damper bolt to 176 N·m
(130 ft. lbs.).
(3) Install the crankshaft pulley. Tighten crank-
shaft pulley bolts to 23 N·m (200 in. lbs.).
(4) Lower engine with floor jack while guiding
engine mount studs into frame slots (Fig. 104).
(5) Install accessory drive belt (Refer to 7 - COOL-
ING/ACCESSORY DRIVE/DRIVE BELTS - INSTAL-
LATION).
(6) Install air cleaner housing (Refer to 9 -
ENGINE/AIR
INTAKE
HOUSING - INSTALLATION).
(7) Raise vehicle on hoist.
(8) Install engine mount to frame nut (Fig. 104).
Tighten nut to 102 N·m (75 ft. lbs.).
(9) Lower vehicle.

CRANKSHAFT OIL SEAL -
FRONT
REMOVAL
(1) Remove air cleaner housing (Refer to 9 -
ENGINE/AIR
INTAKE
HOUSING - REMOVAL).
(2) Remove accessory drive belt (Refer to 7 -
COOLING/ACCESSORY DRIVE/DRIVE BELTS -
REMOVAL).
(3) Remove crankshaft damper (Refer to 9 -
ENGINE/ENGINE
DAMPER - REMOVAL).
(4) Use Special Tool C-4679-A to remove crank-
shaft oil seal (Fig. 108). Be careful not to damage the
crankshaft seal surface of cover.

INSTALLATION
(1) Install the new seal by using Special Tool MD
998306 (Fig. 109).
(2) Place seal into opening with seal spring
towards the inside of engine. Install seal until it bot-
toms out in timing chain cover.
(3) Install crankshaft damper (Refer to 9 -
ENGINE/ENGINE BLOCK/VIBRATION DAMPER -
INSTALLATION).
(4) Install accessory drive belt (Refer to 7 - COOL-
ING/ACCESSORY DRIVE/DRIVE BELTS - INSTAL-
LATION).
