TIMING CHAIN COVER (Continued)
(3) Position the oil pump inner rotor mating flats
in the same position as the crankshaft drive flats.
(4) Install timing chain cover onto crankshaft.
Ensure the oil pump is engaged on the crankshaft
correctly or severe damage may result.
(5) Hand start bolts #1 and #2 (Fig. 55).
(6) Loosely install
bracket (Fig. 53).
(7) Hand start remaining timing chain cover bolts
(Fig. 55).
(8) Torque timing chain cover bolts in the sequence
shown in (Fig. 55) to 23 N·m (200 in. lbs.).
(9) Torque A/C compressor mounting bracket bolts
to 23 N·m (200 in. lbs.).
(10) Install crankshaft oil seal (Refer to 9 -
ENGINE/ENGINE
SEAL - FRONT - INSTALLATION).
(11) Raise vehicle on hoist.
(12) Install oil pump pick up tube using a new
o-ring. Torque 1/4–20 bolt to 11 N·m (95 in. lbs.).
Torque 5/16–18 nut to 23 N·m (200 in. lbs.) (Fig. 52).
(13) Install oil pan and drain plug (Refer to 9 -
ENGINE/LUBRICATION/OIL PAN - INSTALLATION).
(14) Lower vehicle.
(15) Install A/C compressor mounting bolts. Torque
bolts to 23 N·m (200 in. lbs.).
(16) Connect oil cooler line (Refer to 9 - ENGINE/
LUBRICATION/OIL COOLER & LINES - STAN-
DARD PROCEDURE).
(17) Connect heater hose.

(18) Install crankshaft damper and pulley (Refer
to 9 - ENGINE/ENGINE
DAMPER - INSTALLATION).
(19) Connect coolant bottle inlet hose at thermo-
stat housing.
(20) Install generator. Connect electrical connectors.
(21) Connect the camshaft position sensor wiring
harness connector.
(22) Connect engine coolant temperature (ECT)
sensor wiring harness connector.
(23) Install power steering pump mounting bolts.
(24) Install accessory drive belt (Refer to 7 -
COOLING/ACCESSORY DRIVE/DRIVE BELTS -
INSTALLATION).
(25) Install upper and lower radiator hoses.
OIL (26) Install front strut tower to tower brace (Refer
to 23 - BODY/EXTERIOR/FRONT STRUT TOWER
TO TOWER BRACE - INSTALLATION).
(27) Install air cleaner housing assembly, connect
throttle body air inlet hose (Refer to 9 - ENGINE/
AIR INTAKE SYSTEM - INSTALLATION).
(28) Install NEW oil filter.
(29) Fill engine crankcase with proper oil to cor-
rect level.
(30) Fill cooling system (Refer to 7 - COOLING/
ENGINE - STANDARD PROCEDURE - FILLING
COOLING SYSTEM).
(31) Connect negative battery cable. Install battery
cover. Close trunk lid.
