E-Keying
The AXP1440-C07 supports the shelf management infrastructure with a process called
E-Keying.
E-Keying replaces the mechanical connector keying method used in earlier backplane
designs which prevents damage to blades, misoperation, and verifies fabric compatibility.
E-Keying entries are present as FRU information in the shelf FRU and all blades present in
the shelf. These entries describe the base interface, fabric interface, and update channel
interface as implemented by the shelf and blades. E-Keying allows blades that support
different PICMG 3 standards to be used in the same shelf.
