Procedure - Remove a SAM1620-D from Nonpowered or
Powered Shelf
Put on an ESD wrist strap.
Connect the strap to the shelf by attaching the front or rear ESD jack.
To remove the module from a nonpowered or powered shelf, proceed as follows:
1. Remove the lower fan tray. See
page
2. From the front side of the shelf, loosen the internal captive screws that match up with
each SAM1620-D using a #1 Phillips screwdriver. The screws are accessed from
where the lower fan tray would normally be. See
3. Unfasten the captive screws at the upper left-hand corner on the face plate of the
SAM1620-D until the module is detached from the shelf.
If your shelf is powered continue with step
If your shelf is not powered proceed with step
4. The blue LED blinks indicating that the module power down process is ongoing.
5. Wait until the blue LED is illuminated permanently.
NOTE: Removing the module with the blue LED still blinking causes data loss. Wait until
the blue LED is permanently illuminated, before removing the module.
6. Unlock ejector handle by pressing the handle and pull down.
The SAM1620-D should start to move out of the shelf. Do not force it. If it
does not move, return the ejector handle to the closed position and check
that the captive screws on the face plate and the front-side internal
captive screws are completely unfastened.
7. Rotate the ejector handle down and remove the module from the shelf.
