Have the correct FTM available and follow these steps to install the upper fan tray module.
1. While supporting the UFT1440-D, align the module carefully into the fan slot in the
shelf. Slowly slide it until the ejector handles engage and then fully close the handles.
2. The UFT1440-D is connected when the assembly is firmly seated in the upper
backplane connector and the hot swap handle moves to the closed position.
3. Hand tool tighten both retention screws, alternating back and forth until tight. Torque to
the recommended torque setting of 0.56 N-m/4.96 in-lbs.
4. From the front of the shelf, use a #1 Phillips screwdriver (minimum of 10 in./25 cm) to
tighten the internal captive locking screw. Torque to 0.3 N-m/2.65 in-lbs. The internal
locking screw is located through the slot where the ADP1440-D is normally positioned.
5. Reinsert and reconnect the ADP1440-D in its original position.

Procedure - Remove the Lower Fan Tray Module

Put on an ESD wrist strap.
Connect the strap to the shelf by attaching the front or rear ESD jack.
Follow these steps and refer to the figure to remove the lower front fan tray module,
LFT1440, from the shelf.
1. Using a Phillips screwdriver, loosen the two shelf retention screws.

2. Open the ejector handle and wait for the blue LED to go solid and steady. This indicates
that the LFT1440 is ready to be removed.
3. Open the ejector handle to a full open position.
4. Using the ejector handle on the front of the module, slowly pull it out of the shelf while
supporting the bottom of the module with the palm of your hand.
