Procedure - Install the Lower Fan Tray Module
Put on an ESD wrist strap.
Connect the strap to the shelf by attaching the front or rear ESD jack.
Have the correct fan tray module, LFT1440, available and follow these steps.
1. While supporting the LFT1440, align the module carefully into the fan slot and slowly
slide it until the ejector handles engage. Fully close the handles.
2. The module is connected when the assembly is firmly seated in the lower backplane
connector and the hot swap handle moves to the closed position.
3. Hand tighten both shelf retention screws at the same time to secure the module. Tool
tighten both shelf retention screws alternating back and forth until tight. Torque the
retention screws to the recommended setting of 0.56 N-m/4.96 in-lbs.
4. When the blue LED turns off, the fan is operating.

Replacing the Fan Filter
Your replacement fan filter consists of a filter media for the lower fan tray module. The fan
filter housing is kept in place by two tabs located on the inner left-side in front of the
stationary metal frame.
Air filters should be checked occasionally to make sure they are not obstructed or
damaged. Visually inspect filters for tears or rips. Do not reinstall a torn filter as it will be
ineffective in trapping particulates and will interrupt air flow distribution. To maintain safety
certification, use only SMART EC approved fan filters. You can order replacement fan filters
(part number RAF1620) by contacting your SMART EC sales representative. For detailed
information on filter maintenance and cleaning, see
