Matching crankshaft bearing shells to bearings in retaining
frame
Bearing shells of the correct thickness are assigned to the

bearing caps at the factory. Coloured dots on bearing shell
are used to identify bearing shell thickness.
The correct allocation of bearing shells to crankshaft is in-

dicated by a sequence of letters on the crankshaft webs.
The number "1" -arrow- preceding the sequence of letters
indicates the colour code for No. 1 bearing.

Bearing bush for torque converter

On vehicles with automatic gearbox, check that bearing
bush -arrow- is inserted in rear of crankshaft. Drive in bear-
ing bush if necessary.
