1.3 Repair / Adjustment

1.3.1 Hard Disk Drive
Removal
1.
Disconnect the power cord.
2.
Remove the rear access cover.
3.
Remove the hard disk assembly.
a. Remove the rear access cover an disconnect P/J271 and P/J272
from the hard disk interface PWB.
b. Remove two mounting screws and slide hard disk assembly
partially out of auxiliary tray assembly.
c. Disconnect P/J275 from the hard disk power supply.
4.
Loosen the screws securing the cover, and lift off the cover.
5.
Disconnect the ribbon harness and P/J273 from the hard disk drive.
6.
Turn the hard disk drive assembly over and set it on a flat surface.
Do not apply excessive pressure on the hard disk drive when
removing the screws.
7.
Remove the four screws securing the hard disk drive to the bottom
plate.

Replacement
1.
Ensure the jumper on the disk drive is in the position shown in
Figure 1.

Perform removal procedure in reverse order.
Do not perform the following step on a hard disk drive that
contains customer data. All data will be destroyed.
3.
If a new hard disk drive was installed, enter the service mode and
perform the Hard Disk Reformat.
a. Open the flip panel on the control panel.
b. Press Terminal Options.
c. Press Select until
this step twice.)
d. Press Select until
Enter.
4.
Perform Service Test 20, Hard Disk Exerciser/Test to verify proper
operation of the hard disk assembly.
