6.5 Protection

There are various ways in which the R&S NGL/NGM protects itself and the connected
load from damage due to overvoltage, overcurrent and overpower drawn by the load
during testing.
1. Press [Settings] key.
The R&S NGL/NGM displays the device/channel menu window.
2. Select the required channel tab to configure the various protection dialogs.
The R&S NGL/NGM displays the selected channel menu.

6.5.1 Over Current Protection (OCP)

When the drawn current exceeds the limit set for the respective channels, an alert is
triggered and the affected channels are turned off according to the settings configured
in the OCP dialog.
1. Select "Over Current Protection (OCP)" from the menu.
The R&S NGL/NGM displays the OCP dialog.

2. Activate the "Enabled" menu item.
The R&S NGL/NGM enables the OCP and displays the OCP icon on the selected
channel status bar information.
3. Set the required "Blowing Delay" and "Initial Delay".
The R&S NGL/NGM displays the on-screen keypad to set the values.
a) "Blowing Delay": The time taken to turn off the affected channel after OCP is
b) "Initial Delay": The time taken before OCP is put into operation.
4. Confirm value with the unit key (ms or s).
