Section 03 ENGINE
Subsection 03 (EXHAUST SYSTEM)

GENERAL

WARNING
To avoid potential burns, never touch ex-
haust system immediately after the engine
is stopped, as it can be very hot. Let engine
and exhaust system cool down before per-
forming any servicing.
During assembly/installation, use the torque val-
ues and service products as in the exploded
views.
Clean threads before applying a threadlocker. Re-
fer to
SELF-LOCKING FASTENERS
APPLICATION
at the beginning of this manual for
complete procedure.
WARNING
Torque
wrench
tightening
must be strictly adhered to.
Locking devices (e.g.: locking tabs, elastic
stop nuts, cotter pin, etc.) must be replaced
with new ones.

PROCEDURES

MUFFLER

Muffler Removal

Loosen muffler clamp.

2. Muffler clamp
Over the LH foot protector, remove screw secur-
ing muffler pipe to frame.

Remove muffler screw.

3. Muffler screw
Pull muffler rearward to remove it.
Discard the gasket at the end of exhaust pipe.

Muffler Inspection
Check muffler for cracks or other damages. Re-
place if necessary.

Muffler Installation

For the installation, reverse the removal proce-
dure. However, pay attention to the following.
