Use the bolt M16 x 1,5 x 65 mm (P/N 529 035 549)
to remove control gear.

Apply grease on the screw threads to protect the
threads during removal.
Install puller in control gear.

Tighten screw to extract control gear.

NOTE: When tightening screw, it may be neces-
sary to tap on screw head to release control gear
from its taper.
Timing Chain Drive Gears Inspection
Bearing Pin
Check bearing pin surface for wear or scoring. Re-
place if necessary.

Intermediate Gear
Inspect the intermediate gear for chipped, worn or
broken gear teeth.
Check intermediate gear for worn or scoured bear-
ing surface.
If timing chain teeth of intermediate gear are ex-
cessively worn or damaged, replace involved parts
(camshaft timing gears, intermediate gear and tim-
ing chain) as a set.
