Subsection 07 (CYLINDER HEAD/CYLINDER)
Using a ring expander, install the lower compres-
sion ring with the stamping "E" and "TOP " fac-
ing up, then the upper compression ring with the
stamping "E" and "TOP" facing up.

3. Oil scraper ring
Check that rings rotate smoothly after installation.
Space the piston ring end gaps 120° apart and do
not align the gaps with the piston pin bore or the
thrust side axis.

Piston Pin Inspection
Using synthetic abrasive woven, clean piston pin
from deposits.
Inspect piston pin for scoring, cracking or other
damages.
Measure piston pin. See the following illustration
for the proper measurement positions.

Replace piston pin if diameter is out of specifica-
tions.
Connecting Rod Small End Bushing
Using a bore gauge, measure the inside diameter
of connecting rod small end bushing.
