Instant messaging

Using instant messaging, you can exchange text messages with other users. Instant messaging is
available regardless of whether you are engaged in an active call. You can use the Instant
Messaging feature only if this service is assigned to you.
From your Avaya Aura
presence of users on external communities, such as Yahoo, Google, AOL, MSN, and Jabber.
However, you must have valid user names for each community with which you wish to
communicate. For example, in order to exchange instant messages with a Yahoo user, you must
have a valid Yahoo identification.

Function
• Use this button to answer a ringing call. All other calls are placed on hold.
• If there is no ringing call but there is an In Session window in focus, this button
dials the number associated with the session window.
If there is an active call, this button releases the call.
• If there is a ringing call, the volume buttons change the ringing volume for this
and subsequent calls.
• If there is an active call, the volume buttons change the active call receive
volume for this and subsequent calls.
• If there are no ringing or active calls, the volume buttons do nothing.
• For an active voice call, this button toggles the mute state of the call.
• For an active video call, this button toggles the mute state of the call's audio and
video.
• This button does not affect the mute state for other (held) calls.
This button minimizes or maximizes the appropriate call window. This button acts
on different windows depending on the state of the calls associated with the call
windows. The following is a list of call states, in order of priority, upon which this
button takes effect:
• ringing
• active call with focus
• active call without focus
• held call with focus
• held call without focus
When a window matches one of the above states, the operation of minimizing or
maximizing is applied to the window corresponding to the call.
This visual indicator is illuminated when the user has new voicemail messages.
This button is not supported in the Avaya Aura
®
