Scan Codes in Detail

Beginning of Collation (BOC)
Unless specified otherwise for a specific feeder or module implementation,
BOC is considered an integrity and not a control function. This means that
it is used to flag feed errors, but not for actual collation management. In
DI900/950 High-Capacity Sheet feeders, the BOC functions as a true control
in place of the more conventional EOC. NOTE: This is not recommended un-
less no other solution can be implemented.
For single item collations, both BOC and EOC occur on the one page. For the
BOC, presence indicates the beginning of the collation.
This mark is used to detect the condition where the operator restarts the ma-
chine without properly manually completing the collation which was in process
at the time of an error. This mark is very useful in preventing a partial collation
being output to the stacker.
NOTE: If BOC is used as the controlling mark for document breaks, you need
to use the High Capacity Sheet Feeder and install the High-Capacity Sheet
Feeder Scanner Mounting Kit (F790050).

Sense
This mark occurs in two senses: absence and presence. In the first, the ab-
sence of the mark indicates the first item in the collation, and in the second,
the presence of the mark indicates the first item in collation.
Benchmark (BM)
This mark is required for multi-line OMR applications to indicate the starting
point of the code. It is always used in the Presence mode, and must be pres-
ent on each and every item in the run.
It serves two purposes;
It starts the mark region off with a clear starting location and eliminates
much of the potential for having the scanner not reading.
The benchmark occurs on each and every page in the same location, and
thus provides much more reliability that each page is being handled cor-
rectly.
Symbologies
This function is only available in OMR implementations.
