Like other inserters of its kind, in order to produce different fold types, the
DI900/950 requires that the orientation of the paper and page order be loaded
on the feeders in a particular way. This in turn, affects how the collation break
marks [such as End of Collation (EOC) or Beginning of Collation (BOC)] are
printed and/or interpreted by the system (see tables on page 4-12 to 4-15).
Evaluating Collation Break Marks - Example 1
There may be times where you encounter a scan job that does not build the
collations the way that you are expecting them to be built. If you are working
from an existing job, and the collations are not being built correctly, then you
will need to alter the scan configuration to compensate for the feed order of
the items (sheets).
You will first need to collect a few piece of information about the job that is to
be run.
1. You will need to know whether the scanned document will be in the High
Capacity Sheet Feeder (HCSF) or in the Base Tower.
NOTE: This can be done by first creating the job on the DI900/DI950 with-
out assigning a scan configuration to the control document. The DI900/
DI950 user interface will automatically assign the feeder.
2. The fold that will be done on the scanned document.
3. The address position of the scanned document.
4. The flap type of the enclosure envelope.
5. The print order that will be done by the printer.
6. The control marks that are on the first document in a collation.
7. The control marks that are on the last document in a collation.
8. The count direction of the integrity features (Match Code, Wrap Around
Sequence, Page Number) that are on the document.
Let's say that you are given a job that has only and EOC mark printed on
it. The EOC mark is printed on the last page of the collation. The customer
would like to run the job as a top address Z fold.
The table below shows the case for a Top Address Z fold:
