Seal (SL)
This mark triggers sealing of the mailpiece or inhibits the sealer, leaving the
piece unsealed. The mark/function must appear on all pages of a collation.
Symbologies
OMR or barcode.
Sense
Either absence or presence of the mark can signal the sealed state. The alter-
nate state signals not sealed.
Select Feed (SF)
This mark directs the system to selectively turn on or off any "downstream"
feeder. "Downstream" in this context means any feeder further down the
icon tree in the job definition relative to the scanning feeder. The user may
select from 0 to 9 marks to operate in this manner. In OMR symbology, either
presence or absence can be used to indicate feeding of the designated item.
Select feed marks need not be in a contiguous set within the specified code.
Items can be assigned in any order relative to marks. Only one item in the job
can contain select feed information, and this item must be the primary scan
control item (i.e., the first item scanned in a job).
For many applications, there is specific, detailed information that need not
be sent to each individual in the mailing. This may be marketing, confidential
or restricted information. In these cases, it is possible to use the select feed
feature to dynamically turn on and off downstream feeders from the control
document. The number of mark positions reserved for a job corresponds to
the number of selectable documents desired.
NOTE: This number must be less than or equal to the number of available
feeders in a configuration. Even though you are allowed to configure this mark
from 0-9, the system will only recognize the maximum number of feeders
you have on your system (up to 4). Any number above your maximum feeder
number will be ignored.
The marks versus item combinations are programmable in machine setup, so
any of the marks for this combination can be programmed to any item in the
job. A mark can also be programmed to more than one item, therefore a single
mark can select more than one item simultaneously.
NOTE: All sheets or inserts intended for a single collation must have the iden-
tical select feed pattern.
Symbologies
OMR or barcode.
Sense
The presence of a mark indicates that the selected feeder(s) that corresponds
to this mark will feed according to the job setup. The absence of the mark
indicates that this feeder will operate in pass-through mode for the indicated
piece.
