Job Setup
Errors
8-2
There are a large number of factors that will make or break a scan job. Some
issues are related to the DI900/950 setup, while others are due to the printed
job. Below are a few known trouble areas.
Cannot Assign Feeder.
This error will be displayed if the scan board or scan head that is required for
the current job is not detected by the UIM when creating or editing a job. The
following is a list of possible causes:
Correct lights are lit up on the scan decode board (See section 4.1 from
DI900/DI950 Service Manual).
Check all connectors on the scan head wiring from the scan-head, through
the tower to the scan board.
Check that the control document in the job is being assigned to a feeder
that supports scanning.
USB cable is connected to the peripheral comm. board.
Check that the scanner board is associated with the feeder that is feeding
the control document. (Potential USB issue). This can be done by looking
at the Firmware versions displayed in the "About My Machine" screens in
the UIM.
For picket barcode jobs, check that the moving beam scan-head is avail-
able in the correct side of the HCSF tower for the current job. The UIM
software will always assume that the moving beam scan-head is installed
in the left side of the tower. If the job that is being run requires the scan
head to be on the right side of the tower, the moving beam scan-head
must be installed on the right side of the tower and the job in the UIM
must set to have the marks on the back side of the page even thought the
marks are on the front side of the page. This will cancel out the fact that
the scan head is on the right side of the tower.
