Configuration Guide - VPN
6.3.4 (Optional) Configuring Huawei Devices to Communicate with
Non-Huawei Devices
Context
Do as follows on the PEs at both ends of a PW.
Procedure
Step 1 Run:
system-view
The system view is displayed.
Step 2 Run:
vpls bgp encapsulation { ethernet | vlan }
The global encapsulation type of Kompella VPLS is configured.
After this command is used and a VPLS packet with the encapsulation type being 19 is received,
the system re-encapsulates this packet according to the configuration of a user and then performs
other VPLS-related processing.
When this command is not run, the system re-encapsulates received VPLS packets with the
encapsulation type being 19 in VLAN mode by default.
Step 3 Run:
vsi vsi-name
The view of the created VSI is displayed.
Step 4 Run:
ignore-mtu-match
The MTU matching check is ignored and sent VPLS packets are re-encapsulated.
By default, the MTU in the VSI view is 1500. If the MTUs of the same VSI on two PEs are
different, the two PEs cannot exchange information or establish a connection.
The devices of certain manufacturers do not support the MTU matching check in a VSI. When
the S9300 communicates with a non-Huawei device in Kompella mode, you need to run the
ignore-mtu-match command on the S9300 to ignore the MTU matching check. This ensures
that the VC is Up.
After the ignore-mtu-match command is run, sent VPLS packet adopts standard encapsulation
type 19.
----End

Issue 03 (2009-08-20)
NOTE
When Huawei devices need to communicate with non-Huawei devices through packets with the VPLS
encapsulation type in the BGP extended community attribute as 19, you need to perform this configuration.
NOTE
Huawei devices can interwork with other vendors' devices only when the ignore-mtu-match command is
used together with the vpls bgp encapsulation { ethernet | vlan } command.
